Italy sentences 10 years in prison for a Moroccan immigrant for a complaint about his daughter

A court in the Italian city of Vercelli recently sentenced a Moroccan migrant to 10 years' imprisonment for attempting to assassinate his daughter, after the latter lodged a complaint against him accusing him of trying to kill her.

The 50-year-old father, Mustafa, and his 20-year-old daughter, Maryam, were in constant argument over their desire to leave the family home and live alone in the Western lifestyle.

The father faced her with total refusal, which led the girl to file a complaint against him for security, as her father was sentenced to 10 years in prison, that is, 3 years of what the prosecutor demanded, despite the absence of any evidence about the assassination attempt.

The father admitted during a previous session that he wanted to punish his daughter only by deluding her that he would drown her, denying his intention to kill her, but the court did not take this motive into consideration.
